Plymouth, MA– Michelle Badger enthusiastically announced today that she is running for
the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the 1st Plymouth District. The 1st
Plymouth District consists of Precincts 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 in
the Town of Plymouth.
Badger grew up in Plymouth and is a graduate of Plymouth South High School. Having
served on the Plymouth School Committee for twelve years, she is currently serving her
first term as Chair. An active community advocate, Badger currently serves on the
Boards of the Pilgrim Area Collaborative and The Fragment Society; she previously
served on the Plymouth No Place For Hate Committee, Dream Ride LLC, Plymouth
PMC Kids Ride Organizational Committee, and the Plymouth Antiquarian Society’s
Subcommittee for Fundraising and Membership.
Badger says she is running for the seat to address the current and future issues facing
America’s Hometown: “Since I first ran for School Committee in 2011, I have always
participated in local government to ensure all residents have a voice and all
perspectives are included in important community discussions. We are all fortunate to
live here but we have work to do to provide opportunity in our town for everyone. If
elected, I will be honored to serve Plymouth residents at the State House and work hard
to find solutions for the concerns and challenges that face our community.”
Currently, Badger serves as the Vice President of Institutional Advancement at
Massasoit Community College. Prior to working at Massasoit, she worked at
Massachusetts Maritime Academy as the Director of Advancement for over ten years.
Badger also holds her certification as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).
In 2021, Badger received the 40 under 40 Award from Cape & Plymouth Business
Media which recognizes the region’s top 40 young business leaders who excel in their
industry and show dynamic leadership. Badger was also the recipient of the Algernon
Sydney Sullivan Award at Sweet Briar College, her alma mater, in 2006. Earlier this
year, she was nominated for and participated in Leadership South Shore. This program
is offered by the South Shore Chamber Of Commerce and South Shore Bank to
educate emerging leaders on the regional impact of important issues like affordable
housing, workforce training, health and human services, and economic issues facing the
region.
Badger graduated from Sweet Briar College (Sweet Briar, VA) with a bachelor’s degree
majoring in history and international affairs and played on their field hockey team. Since
graduation, she has remained actively involved with the college, currently serving as
Co-Chair for the Alumnae Alliance Council, Class Co-President and Fund Agent,
President of the Boston Area Alumnae Club, and an Admission Ambassador. Badger
also earned dual master’s degrees from Suffolk University in public administration and
political science.
